Working together for a better future
Sibos is committed to protecting the environment, supporting communities and advancing diversity, equity and inclusion.
Working closely with our global community, we aim to be one of the world’s most sustainable events.
These efforts align with Swift’s commitment to climate action through the Science Based Targets initiative, setting emissions reduction targets in line with a 1.5°C future.

Sibos 2025 achievements
We’re proud of our community’s efforts to contribute to a more sustainable event, leading to a significant reduction of carbon intensity per person of 58%, excluding travel emissions.
This was driven by assessing the impact of exhibitor booths, accounting for a 50% reduction in non-travel emissions. A more mindful circular approach to materials contributed significantly, while plant-based catering (67% of menus were meat-free) and lower emission factors surrounding accommodation and waste were also key.
Highlights
- 9% reduction in carbon emissions per person compared to last edition in Europe in 2022, including travel emissions
A significant achievement, almost meeting our overall 10% target - 85% of all show waste recycled
Our collaboration with Messe Frankfurt to provide an efficient waste management system meant we exceeded our target by 5% - 72% of exhibition and conference materials either repurposed or donated
About 150 tonnes of materials were reused, repurposed or donated, meaning our initial target of 55% was surpassed
- 53% of menus were vegan
Combined with 14% including vegetarian options, making up a total of 67% of the total menu offering
Looking ahead
As we turn our focus towards Miami, we’re looking to tackle material use, freight emissions and further assess exhibitor booths.

Our 2026 host venue: Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC)
Sustainability remains at the core of each Sibos host venue. This year, Sibos heads to the reimagined Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC), where sustainability and climate change action are central to its corporate social responsibility programme
The MBCC was redeveloped in 2020 using locally sourced recycled materials where possible and 96% of construction waste was recycled. Last year, it earned the prestigious EIC Golf Certificate, a testament to its leadership in environmental and social impact.Other key features include high efficiency lighting throughout, significant reductions in wastewater, electric vehicle charging stations, a herb & vegetable garden and approximately 9 acres of new green space since redevelopment.
