HSBC: Accessing China Markets: New Channels? Greater efficiencies?
China has been open to foreign institutional investors for over a decade. However, the pace of the opening is getting faster of late and more innovative programs have been launched in the past two-to-three years enabling foreign investors to participate in China’s domestic markets. This includes the opening of the China Interbank Bond market, the further enhancements of the RQFII and QFII programs and the recent announcement of Stock Connect being extended to cover the Hong Kong and Shenzhen stock exchanges. What does this means for investors and their custodians? What will the impact be on the fund industry and for asset servicing?
