Asad Naqvi is a Managing Director at Apis Partners, a private equity fund specializing in financial services investments in emerging markets, with a particular focus on financial infrastructure and financial technology across Africa and Asia. At Apis, Asad is actively involved in originating, executing and managing the firm’s investments.
Prior to Apis, Asad had over 14 years of experience in private equity investing and corporate finance. Asad was a Partner at Wolfensohn Fund Management, the financial services and emerging markets focused private equity fund founded by James Wolfensohn (former World Bank President). Asad headed Wolfensohn’s London office and managed several of the firm’s financial services investments in emerging markets, ranging from consumer finance lenders to stock exchanges.
Previously, Asad was the Director of Acquisitions & Investments at The Resource Group (TRG), a global investment holding company with operations in the U.S., Pakistan and the Philippines, where his experience included over 10 private equity style investments in the business services sector. Asad started his career at Lazard where he worked on over 10 M&A transactions with an aggregate value of over $14 billion.
Asad has served on the Board of Directors of several investee companies, including Meritum Bank, and has spoken on issues of financial inclusion and financial technology at several industry events, including The Financial Services Forum Executive Summit and the Citi Digital Money Symposium.
Asad holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Economics from Georgetown University.
