In our daily Lunch & Learn sessions you will hear from professional teachers as they provide a brief extract from courses aimed at those already working in the financial industry. Today’s topic is all about Financial Markets Operations. Lunch will be provided so you can eat while you learn. As we approach the third decade of the new millennium, there are several initiatives that might potentially ‘disrupt’ the world at large in general and financial markets in particular. Be it Blockchain or Artificial Intelligence (AI) or some as yet unknown ‘fintech’, we are increasingly looking to automate or even eliminate operational processes. In order to be ready for and take advantage of impending disruptors, you need to have a solid understanding of how the financial markets operations work today. This session will introduce delegates to a course focusing on the key operational processes involving the post-trade lifecycle of a securities transaction. These processes provide the foundation for the extensions of the market into topics, such as algorithmic trading / AI, data mining and Straight Through Processing (STP). The course content is overlaid with relevant information on regulation & compliance, risks & controls and of course technology. Those who are already working in financial markets operations will benefit from a refresher of the overall transaction flows, while those who are merely curious about securities operations will gain a good overview of the lifecycle of a trade.
