Main conference session SWIFT Institute
Director, Centre for Global Finance and Technology
Imperial College Business School

In our daily Lunch & Learn sessions you will hear from professional teachers as they provide a brief extract from courses aimed at those already working in the financial industry. Today’s topic is all about Fintech. Lunch will be provided so you can eat while you learn.

According to Martin Wolf of the Financial Times, “Information technology has disrupted the entertainment, media and retail businesses and, most recently, the supply of hotel rooms and taxis. Finance, particularly banking, does need a revolution. Banking seems inefficient, costly, riddled with conflicts of interest, prone to unethical behaviour, and, not least, able to generate huge crises. It seems ripe for disruption by information technologies”

This session will provide an overview of the changing fintech ecosystem with a special focus on how fintech affects the banking industry.
