Sean Foley is the Chief Technology Officer for Microsoft's Worldwide Financial Services Industry Group. He leads Microsoft's technology strategy across the banking, capital markets and insurance industries and is a trusted advisor to the company's largest global financial services customers on their technology direction. Sean has a specific focus on cloud computing, cybersecurity, big data, and artificial intelligence, and works with Microsoft's largest banking customers, financial regulators and the company's engineering groups to support banks and insurance companies to enable cloud as a technology option in a heavily regulated industry.
Prior to joining the Enterprise and Partner Group in 2012, he led Microsoft's engagement with the largest independent software vendors in the US. This included responsibility for a USD 400m revenue channel as well as helping those partners drive business growth and platform adoption across Microsoft cloud and application platforms. Before that, he held a number of senior roles in Microsoft including Platform Marketing Director in the US, and led Microsoft's Developer and Platform Group in Ireland.
Before joining Microsoft in 2005, Sean was Chief Technology Officer for Cognotec (now part of First Derivatives) - a market leader in automated FX trading software. As CTO he led the development and rollout of a trading platform used by over 40 of the top global banks. Prior to Cognotec, he held senior technology roles with a number of wealth management and insurance companies in Ireland.
