Beyond the bubble
The roots of the internet were radically more open and decentralized than the online world we find ourselves in today. A world dominated by a handful of technology giants, who control our data, turning us into the product; a world where value is produced at the centre of the network for the benefit of the platform owners, rather than for those who really contribute to its success.
But what if there was another way?
In this session we will hear from TED Speaker, 11-time author, New York Times, and Wired Magazine Columnist, Steven Johnson, on how one element of blockchain technology could point the way to returning the internet back to its decentralised roots. Can we put the information back in the hands of the end users, who can then choose how this is used, shared and even monetized?
