Professor Bonnie Buchanan is the Howard Bosanko Professor of International Economics and Finance at the Albers School of Business and Economics, Seattle University. For 2018-2019, Professor Buchanan is the Fulbright Distinguished Chair in Business and Economics at Hanken School of Economics, Finland.
Professor Buchanan graduated from the University of NSW with a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics and she has a MSc in Mathematics and Data Analysis from RMIT, Melbourne. Professor Buchanan also has a PhD in Finance from the University of Georgia, USA. She has worked in Australia, Scotland, Finland and the USA. Dr Buchanan's research focuses on Fintech (including AI in finance; peer-to-peer lending, and blockchain), securitization, banking and corporate governance. She is the author of the book, Securitization and the Global Economy (published last year). Professor Buchanan has published over 40 internationally refereed papers and her co-authored work on shareholder proposals has been used in deliberations at the SEC and cited in the Financial Times. She has also received several research grants, including grants from Dauphine Amundi, the Alan Turing Institute, and SWIFT Institute. Professor Buchanan is the Editor in Chief of Journal of Risk Finance, Associate Editor of Research in International Business and Finance, and on the Editorial Advisory Board of Review in Behavioral Finance.
