David Bannister is a Principal Analyst with Ovum in the Financial Services Technology team where he covers a range of topics including wholesale payments, market infrastructures, transaction and corporate banking and fintech.
Before joining Ovum at the beginning of 2016 David spent the previous 12 years as editor of Banking Technology, where he covered a broad range of topics, from retail branch systems to high frequency trading technology. He has been writing about technology issues for 36 years and specialising in financial technology for the past 25, contributing to a range of titles including Dealing with Technology, Waters magazine, Financial Markets IT, Financial News, as well as national newspapers including the Daily Telegraph, the Financial Times, and The Times, and has contributed to radio and television programmes for BBC Radio 4, Channel 4 News and Sky News.
He is a well-known panellist and speaker and has taken part in many international conferences, including Swift's Sibos, the International Payments Summit, EBAday and the ISITC Vendor Forum.
He has also provided consultancy and training for a number of leading IT and financial technology providers such as IBM, HP, Misys and others.
David studied Electronic Engineering at the University College of North Wales before dropping out to write about the PC revolution in the late 1970s for Personal Computer World magazine.
