Jonathan Liebenau is Reader in Technology Management at the London School of Economics and an associate of the Columbia Institute for Tele-Information, Columbia University. He heads "LSE Tech", a research team conducting a portfolio of policy-related studies. He was educated in science and technology policy, the history and sociology of science, technology and medicine at the University of Rochester and the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned his PhD in 1981.
He has held a 3-year Leverhulme Trust Fellowship and grants from the ESRC, the EPSRC, the Sloan Foundation, the European Union, the Swift Institute and is a designated "Senior Scholar" of the Academy of Information Systems, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and a member of the advisory board of the American University in Cairo School of Business and of the Columbia University Institute for Tele-Information.
He is the author or editor of twelve books and over 70 articles in information systems, innovation studies, telecommunications & internet policy, and economics, business history and the history of technology.
