Vinod Madhavan is currently Group Head: Trade, Standard Bank. In this role he is responsible for Trade and has PnL responsibility for Trade across the Group i.e., across sectors in Corporate and Investment Bank (CIB) and client segments in Personal and Business Banking (PBB). Standard Bank franchise (spanning 20 markets in Africa) offers trade and supply chain finance services and solutions, to clients in institutional, corporate, commercial, business and enterprise client segments.
With more than 20 years' experience in commercial banking, Madhavan has worked with corporations and financial institutions to address their transaction banking and working capital financing needs in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Before joining Standard Bank in Jan 2014, he worked for Standard Chartered, Citibank and Deutsche Bank. Madhavan's career has spanned roles in operations, product management and sales positions operating from Singapore, India and South Africa.
He is passionate about driving SEE outcomes, esp., by driving thought leadership in the space of Trade and working capital financing, leveraging Standard Bank's legitimacy in Africa. He is a member of the Advisory Board of ICC (International Chamber of Commerce) Banking Commission. He is also a member of BAFT-Global Trade Industry Council.
Vinod Madhavan holds a Bachelor degree in Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, India, and did his post-graduate studies in business management at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad, India. He holds an international cash management (ICM) certification from the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT), UK.
