Brussels, 20 August 2018</strong> - Professor Bell, an Australian cultural anthropologist, technologist and futurist, will deliver the closing plenary address at Sibos 2018, at ICC Sydney on 25 October 2018.</p> Professor Bell is a Distinguished Professor at the Australian National University (ANU), a Vice President and Senior Fellow at Intel Corporation, and Florence Violet McKenzie Chair.</p> She is also the Director of the Autonomy, Agency and Assurance (3A) Institute, which was launched in September 2017 by the ANU in collaboration with CSIRO's Data61. The 3A Institute aims to build a new applied science around the management of artificial intelligence (AI), data, technology and their impact on humanity.</p> Professor Bell joined the ANU’s College of Engineering and Computer Science in February 2017, having spent the previous 18 years in Silicon Valley helping drive Intel’s product development by developing the company’s social science and design research capabilities.</p> As the inaugural appointee to the Florence Violet McKenzie Chair at the ANU, which is named in honour of Australia’s first female electrical engineer, Professor Bell promotes the inclusive use of technology in society. She also presented the highly acclaimed ABC Boyer Lectures for 2017, in which she investigated what it means to be human, and Australian, in a digital world.</p> Professor Bell completed her PhD in cultural anthropology at Stanford University.
