The agenda for Sibos 2014 is already coming together, reflecting both the primary concerns of the global banking and financial services industry and some of the specific challenges facing members of the SWIFT community in the Americas. New networking lounges in the conference space will provide delegates with an area to network with peers and speakers, and to exchange ideas and discuss common problems. This year’s streams are:
Technology Forum: a two-day stream to update you on what you need to know about current and future technology opportunities and challenges for the financial industry, especially from the point of view of strategy, security and compliance.
Market Infrastructures Forum: a two-day stream offering a compelling programme dedicated to the pillars of the financial industry. Highly respected speakers will discuss: how far regulatory expectations have been met in the post-implementation phase; the value proposition of new entrants; and the challenges that remain that still need to be addressed in the years to come. As last year, ‘MI Forum’ magazine will complement the panel discussions.
Sibos University: a one day-stream produced by the SWIFT Institute, featuring leading academics giving 30-minute lectures on a wide range of topics impacting the global financial industry. As well as a special lunchtime panel session focused on regulation, you will be able to listen to and meet academics from local universities including Harvard, MIT and Bentley, as well as from further afield. Topics covered throughout the day will include market infrastructures, big data, the cloud, risk management and mobile money.
Compliance Forum: a two-day stream addressing financial crime compliance which is at an all-time high, first and foremost for those involved in correspondent banking, but increasingly for other business segments across the banking and finance sector as well. The Compliance Forum will deliver practical ideas to address the expanding number of topics in financial crime compliance and the challenges it presents to our industry.
Corporate Forum: a two-day stream that continues to build on the theme, ‘Accelerating innovation in Treasury and Trade’. It will offer delegates the opportunity to learn about and discuss key developments such as optimising advances in treasury management systems; coping with greater regulatory requirements; digitising trade finance processes; and enhancing corporate-to-bank services through innovations in the B2B supply chain space.
Investment Managers’ Day: a new one-day stream to focus on specific challenges of concern to the investment management community. The programme will cover key issues such as the impact of regulatory changes, growing pressures to improve operational risk and efficiency, the benefits of automation, and the scope for innovation.
Standards Forum: a four-day stream where we will engage in discussions about the role, relevance and future of standards in dealing with the regulatory and operational challenges the industry is facing today. More than ever, the Standards Forum is the place where business and standardisation meet.
Innotribe: a three-day stream that will bring you a comprehensive programme of topics crucial to the future of the financial industry. Innotribe will host a powerful mix of world experts in engaging keynote sessions, in-depth case studies and interactive immersive discussions, and of course the Innotribe Startup Challenge 2014 Grand Finale is not to be missed.
Change Day: The financial sector has undergone significant change in recent years. Uncertain market conditions, regulatory obligations, fast-evolving technology and global shifts in economic power all mean that the pace of change is likely to accelerate rather than to go away. On Change Day, Sibos will look at change from several perspectives, including some insightful contributions from non-financial sectors.
Big issue debates, and the opening and closing plenaries will be on the programme as usual. Watch this space for more details of all these sessions and for more detailed information on the programmes of the streams.
