Sibos 2017 Toronto has been a record breaker. With 8,100 delegates, its officially the largest Sibos ever seen in the Americas.</p> The growing influence of AI</h3> The final day’s highlights included the last Big Issue Debate, which focused on the growing significance of disruptive innovation and artificial intelligence.</p> Moderated by Dean C. Garfield from the Information Technology Industry Council</strong>, the panel included Alex Manson (Standard Chartered), Axel Lehmann (UBS), and Amber Case (Harvard University)</strong>.</p> They covered the important role that AI can play, the need to take a more ecological view of banking, and the idea of automating day-to-day tasks to free up more time for innovation.</p> </p> Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella</strong> then delivered an inspiring closing address to a packed John Bassett Theatre, talking about how technology is impacting every aspect of our society and economies.</p> </p> Innotribe comes to a close</h3> The Innotribe stand has been a big attraction throughout the week. The programme concluded on Thursday with sessions on RegTech, FinTech hubs across the Americas, and the case for calm technology.</p> One of the week’s highlights was a look at the past, present and future of the Internet, with Sir Tim Berners-Lee</strong>, creator of the World Wide Web.</p> Sir Berners-Lee talked about collaboration, and how the 51% of the world’s population that have access to the Internet have a responsibility to help the 49% who don’t.</p> Thank you Canada!</h3> The Canada Lounge has been a big hit with delegates, who were able to network with 32 of the country’s brightest FinTechs to discuss their innovative solutions and potential partnerships.</p> The FinTech Marketplace and FinTech Theatre also proved popular, providing a platform for new ideas and new relationships.</p> </p> </div> </div> </div> Continue the conversation</h3> In early November, the wrap-up editions of Sibos Issues and Sibos Insider will recap all the highlights from a busy week and continue the industry conversation.</p> Make sure that you also keep a close eye on Sibos.com in the coming days.
