Welcome to another action-packed day at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre. There are 8,100 delegates – and counting!
How can you manage change in a volatile world?
We are witnessing a time of geopolitical and technological change. Innovations in technology are presenting myriad challenges and opportunities; geopolitical tensions are meanwhile rising and increasingly shaping finance, technology, economics and regulation.
As financial institutions re-evaluate their correspondent relationships to stay on the right side of sanctions legislation, a new set of issues is emerging for financial markets.
We invite you to today’s Big Issue Debate in the plenary room, from 11:30-12:30, to explore how the inextricably linked global capital markets, transaction banking business and international financial system is managing these risks and how it is – and could be further – impacted by ongoing developments.
Shaping the future of treasury and trade
This year’s Corporate Forum opens today, where you can discover the latest industry developments and have your say on the challenges faced by corporates and banks. The two-day forum covers the future of corporate banking and evolving role of the corporate treasurer, emerging treasury centralisation practices in Asia and the technology available for treasurers to improve liquidity management.
It will then move on to explore the benefits of using global standards in treasury and trade, trade digitisation, and alternative financing options.
Rewarding innovation
The much-anticipated Innotribe Startup Challenge Finale takes place between 14:00 and 17:00 today – followed by the winner announcement. This year, over 370 companies applied to the Startup Challenge, with 60 companies selected to enter the programme.
During four regional showcases in London, Cape Town, Singapore and New York, these ambitious companies presented their business ideas to an audience of more than 800 industry experts, VCs, representatives from leading financial institutions, and bank decision-makers, who then selected the 20 finalists – 12 early-stage and 8 growth-stage companies – who advanced to today’s Finale in Singapore.
The early-stage finalists will pitch and showcase their business ideas to you and your fellow Sibos delegates - who will select this year's winner. A cash prize of US$50,000 will be awarded to the winning early-stage finalist.
The growth-stage finalists are hosting individual exhibition booths on the Innotribe stand and have the opportunity to give live product demos to delegates. Come and meet the world’s most promising FinTech companies.
Your last chance to take home a one-off piece of art
We hope that you have enjoyed discovering the Art Walk. If you would like to buy one of the artworks, you can simply send an e-mail with your bid to art@sibos.com by 19:00 this evening. Further details can be found in the catalogue that you received, or on Sibos.com.
Finally, we are delighted to have so far raised over 21,000 Euros this week for Beyond Social Services – this year’s official Sibos charity – through our digital version of the Gasing game on Level B2.
If you haven’t yet got involved, there is still time to compete for bragging rights and the chance to help the local community.
That’s it for today. Join us for ASEAN Day tomorrow. With the ASEAN Economic Community set to officially come ‘on-stream’ at the end of this year, now is the perfect time to engage with local industry leaders to discover what this could mean for your business.
