See Toronto at its finest with the Sibos 5K Fun Run/Walk
The Sibos 5K Run/Walk is returning this year. Taking place on the morning of Wednesday 18 October, this healthy activity extends networking to outside of the convention centre.
Exercise is the perfect way to start a busy Sibos day with a spring in your step. The 5K Run/Walk, which is sponsored by RBC, one of Canada’s largest banks, will help delegates to see more of Toronto and its stunning skyline at sunrise.
The event will be held in Coronation Park, on the shores of Lake Ontario - one of the five Great Lakes of North America.
Starting at the waterfront, the route will travel westbound along the city’s shoreline. As delegates run, or walk, along the route, they will be able to take in some of Toronto’s hidden gems. These include the iconic Argonaut Rowing Club, which was founded back in 1872. The club is one of the oldest and largest rowing clubs in Canada, and was founded by a group of oarsman known as the Orioles.
The park features a number of treasures, such as the Royal Oak, planted to commemorate the Coronation of King George VI. The tree is surrounded by a ring of maple trees that honour Canadian War Veterans. A Second World War memorial can also be found to the east of the park.

“As a dedicated supporter of healthy living and mental health initiatives, RBC is excited to sponsor the Sibos 5K Run/Walk,” said Carolyn Burke, Head, Enterprise Payments, RBC.
“This is a great opportunity for conference delegates from Toronto and around the world to come together in a beautiful lakeside setting, enjoy the shores of Lake Ontario, and boost their energy.”
“The 5K Run/Walk is a perfect start to the day before heading inside the Metro Toronto Convention Centre for a day of discussion, networking and conference sessions, all designed to build an understanding of the forces affecting the global financial community.”
This year’s race partner and route organiser is MAX VO2 Event Management. CEO Cory Freedman, who also directs and manages the Sporting Life 10K, which is Canada’s 2nd largest 10K event with 25,000+ runners, as well as founding and managing the Toronto Women’s Run Series, added:
“We’re delighted to be organising the Sibos 5K Run/Walk in Toronto, one of the most active cities in North America.”
“Before we organise any running event, we always do a “test run” to ensure the route is safe, scenic and fun. I can tell you that the route we have picked is all that and more and it will showcase Toronto at its very best.”
“The route is very popular with local runners, so delegates will be able to experience the inclusive spirit and friendlessness of Toronto’s running community. The run will be a great way to see all the city has to offer, and to get an exclusive view of the city skyline as the runners complete the 5K loop. We are confident that it will enable the delegates to be invigorated for the day ahead.”
In keeping with the Sibos spirit of giving back to the local community, the run will be raising money for the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO).
POGO’s mission is to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with cancer, and their families, by providing access to the best possible care. Sven Bossu, Head of Sibos, will make a presentation to POGO before the race begins.
