The Sibos Academy is back with an unrivalled educational programme featuring expert academics from the world’s leading universities and business schools, plus the new Knowledge Brief video series.</em></p> The Sibos Academy returns this year, delivering educationally-focused content led by academics and researchers to the Sibos audience. The Academy will host curated sessions</a> from the SWIFT Institute across all four days of Sibos to shine a spotlight on some of the key issues facing the industry today and in the future. Each session will comprise a 45-minute talk showcasing independent, academic research from leading experts, followed by an opportunity for participants to ask questions and drive further debate on the session topics. </p> The Sibos Academy sessions</strong></p> In the first session on Monday at 9:30, Privacy and robustness in federated machine learning</em></strong>, Dr Emiliano De Cristofaro, Professor of Security and Privacy Technologies at University College London (UCL), will explain the latest developments in federated machine learning and its applications, and discuss challenges related to privacy and data integrity.</li>In Tuesday’s session at 9:30, Lessons in private-private financial information sharing to detect and disrupt crime</em></strong>, will discuss recent research into both anti-money laundering and fraud domain information sharing platforms. It will also look at the changing international policy landscape and its impact on how financial institutions can share information with each other to detect economic crime risk. The session will be led by Nick Maxwell, leader of the Future of Financial Intelligence Sharing research programme at RUSI, and Alison Clew, an independent director and international expert in fighting financial crime more effectively.</li>On Wednesday at 10:30</em>, What is the quantum internet?</em></strong> will provide an overview of state of the art quantum communication technologies. Professor Stephanie Wehner who is an Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Professor in quantum information at Delft University and leader of the EU Quantum Internet Alliance, will review user applications of this novel technology and inspire potential use cases in the financial sector.</li>Closing with the final session on Thursday at 10:30, The transition in thinking required for the energy transition</em></strong> will see Professor Brian Scott-Quinn OBE, ICMA Centre Henley business school, present findings from his latest research on the risk management of climate change and how we must adapt our way of thinking to achieve this greater good. He will explain how climate change risk is very different from traditional credit risk and the importance of the Inevitable Policy Response (IPR) and new accounting disclosure rules that affect everyone.</li></ul> Knowledge Brief video series</strong></p> This year, the Sibos Academy programme is being complemented by a new Knowledge Brief video series, providing the public with bite-sized educational videos on relevant topics including digital assets, net zero and shadow banking. The videos, which are hosted on YouTube</a> and the SWIFT Institute’s LinkedIn</a> page, will also feature a number of the Academy’s speakers in the run-up to Sibos.</p> SWIFT Institute Student Challenge</strong></p> Now in its seventh year, the SWIFT Institute Student Challenge presents financial solutions from the next generation of industry innovators. The competition comes to Latin America this year, with two separate challenges running in Colombia and Mexico.
