Sibos announces Amsterdam as host city for 2022
Sibos has officially selected Amsterdam as the host city for its annual conference in 2022. It has also confirmed the dates for Sibos in Boston, which will take place from 5 to 8 October 2020 following this year’s event in London
The last time Sibos was in Amsterdam was 2010, when it attracted more than 8900 delegates – the biggest attendance to date! In 2022 it will take place at the RAI Amsterdam, one of Europe’s busiest convention centres hosting around 600 exhibitions and conferences a year.
As the first European city to open an options market in 1978, Amsterdam has long been a thriving financial centre. It is a world leading hub for green finance and home to more than 50 international banks. The city’s combination of a strong financial sector, successful tech ecosystem and lively start-up scene also make it a vibrant fintech hub.
After this year’s event in London, Sibos returns to Boston in 2020 to welcome thousands of senior figures from the global financial services and technology communities to the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (MCCA), one of North America’s largest event venues. Renowned for its financial strength, asset management businesses, and science and technology scene, Boston will host Sibos 2020 from 5 to 8 October, providing the perfect platform for four days of high-level networking, discussion and debate.
Looking forward to 2021, Singapore will host Sibos for the third time following successful events in 2003 and 2015. As a dominant financial centre and home to an increasingly fast-growing fintech industry, the city-state has long been seen as a leader in digital innovation and the motor of development in the ASEAN region. It is an excellent home for Sibos in 2021.
Chantal Van Es, Head of Sibos at SWIFT, said: “We are very excited to return to Amsterdam, a fantastic host to the Sibos community and one of the most recognisable and established financial centres worldwide. The city will provide a fitting backdrop for Sibos to once more unite the financial and fintech communities for another year of critical dialogue and networking opportunities to drive innovation.”
