Sibos returns to Singapore in 2015 for the first time since 2003, as the city prepares to celebrate its 50th year of independence.
It’s an exciting return to one of the most innovative financial centres in the Asia Pacific region and follows the successful Sibos conferences in Hong Kong in 2009 and Osaka in 2012. Sibos brings the global financial services and technology communities together, significantly contributing to the economy of the host city and country. The Singaporean community has shown tremendous support for its return, and as the host city, Singapore delivers an exceptional platform for Sibos 2015.
Asian economies continue to lead global innovation, with one fifth of the world’s most innovative markets located in Asia, according to the Global Innovation Index 2014 (GII). Singapore ranks the highest, at number seven globally, and maintains its place as the leading APAC nation.
Singapore has long been seen as a hub for digital innovation and provides a highly connected telecoms infrastructure that enables cutting edge technology for the latest industry trends such as mobile payments.
It’s no surprise then that 2014 saw Singapore rated by the World Bank, for the ninth year running, as the easiest place in the world to do business. Its Western-style legal system, intellectual property laws and business friendly culture attracts large corporations and entrepreneurs alike, facilitating access to the ASEAN and APAC regions.
As well as hosting Sibos, 2015 has special significance for all Singaporeans, as the nation celebrates its 50th year of independence. Having focused in 2014 on its journey over the last five decades, taking pride in how far the country has come, 2015 will focus on celebration.
The celebrations began on 31 December 2014 with a firework display at the world-renowned Marina Bay Sands, one of the leading business destinations in Asia and the location of Sibos 2015 Singapore. The exhibition and conference will take place at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre and will be one of the largest events yet, utilising over 120,000 square meters of space in the heart of downtown Singapore.
With a calendar full of national and community-level programmes, organised by a range of public and private sector groups, the country is providing ample opportunities for all visitors in 2015 to enjoy the festivities, making Singapore’s 50th birthday truly inclusive and unforgettable.
