Discover what makes the heart of Canada’s financial capital beat, and how to make the most of your visit.

A global financial hub
Toronto has an established financial history, with the Toronto Stock Exchange’s roots dating back to the mid-19th century.
Now it’s a world-leading economic hub, home to the highest concentration of financial services companies in Canada, including startups in fintech, cybersecurity and AI. As one of the fastest-growing markets in North America, it’s clear Toronto provides the perfect high-energy and innovative business environment for Sibos 2023.
A city full of surprises
Often referred to as a ‘city within a park’, Toronto has earned its reputation for being green — and for good reason — 25% of the city is covered by greenery. Home to more than 10 million trees and with more than 18% of the city’s area dedicated to parks, the city provides the ideal backdrop as we work together to #LeadTheChange at Sibos 2023.
Named the most diverse city in the world by the BBC, Toronto is home to citizens representing more than 250 distinct ethnic origins with over 170 different languages spoken in the city. The city’s food scene is a great way to experience this with roughly 7,500 restaurants reflecting the diverse flavours and people of Toronto. Toronto kitchens are renowned for their global influences and last year the city became the first in Canada to have a dedicated MICHELIN guide, with 13 restaurants awarded stars and 17 Bib Gourmands. While you’re in town, it’s safe to say you’re spoiled for choice!
Toronto has emerged as a global leader in the film and television industry. Often referred to as ‘Hollywood North’, Canada’s largest city has been an attractive location for major productions such as X-Men, Good Will Hunting and even Chicago! The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), which takes place every September, attracts some of Hollywood’s biggest stars and nearly 500,000 visitors a year.

Top attractions
The Sibos programme is sure to keep you busy, but if you have some free time during your stay you’re not short of things to do. And with free public transport included with every Sibos pass, you can explore the city efficiently and sustainably.
With exciting attractions, live performances, major league sports and a festival for nearly everything, you'll never run out of activities and events in Toronto.
If you love art, head to the Art Gallery of Ontario, Royal Ontario Museum, Gardiner Museum or the Toronto Dominion Gallery of Inuit Art. For sports lovers, you can also visit the Hockey Hall of Fame, home to countless pieces of ice hockey memorabilia, as well as the Stanley Cup.
You can also visit the picturesque Toronto Islands, just a 15-minute ferry ride away from the city, where you can walk around the park, enjoy some food on the patios and take advantage of the best views of the skyline.
Another great way to appreciate the skyline is from above in the CN Tower. Standing at a remarkable 553.3 meters (1,815 feet) tall, this landmark building is the tallest in Canada and offers stunning panoramic views of the city from its observation deck and glass floor. For thrill seekers there is the EdgeWalk, where you can strap into a safety harness and walk hands-free around the tower’s exterior for a truly unforgettable experience.
For all who love shopping, the Toronto Eaton Centre is a must, or spend time exploring the ‘Mink Mile’ of Yorkville, a strip of Bloor Street West dotted with prestigious designer boutiques. In addition, the PATH, the world’s longest underground shopping complex (according to the Guinness Book of Records), offers over 370,000 square metres of retail space.
If you’re looking for an experience that’s a little different, venture out to Stackt Market at Bathurst and Front Street.
