The winners of the Sibos Hackathon were revealed in a live final on Thursday 8 October as six teams battled it out across three categories to prove they had the solution that unlocked the true power of data in financial services.</p> Impressing the judges and securing the lion’s share of the audience’s votes were three teams who went above and beyond to demonstrate ingenuity, creativity and the real-life utility of the solutions they developed.</p> The Hackathon final was the culmination of weeks of hard work which saw more than 60 developers compete in cross-industry teams, while contending with this year’s added challenge of collaborating remotely. The developers came together from fintechs, banks and financial institutions from around the world.</p> The winning solutions were those with the potential to best leverage advanced analytic technologies including machine learning and deep learning to deliver better customer outcomes and solve industry challenges. The winners are:</p> Category 1: Managing risk & financial crime</strong></p> Winner</strong>: Team 3 - The team explored how to improve cybersecurity for SWIFT member banks by providing a Payment Messaging Traffic Screening Tool, which alerts security officers/cybersecurity teams of abnormal FIN messages, the message type (MT) that transmits financial information from one financial institution to another.</p> Ashwin Naidu, Citi</li> Yauheniya Shynkevich, Clearstream, Clearstream | Deutsche Boerse Group</li> Cynthia C.
