What happened on Day 1?

Day 1 of Sibos 2019 London got off to a roaring start and launched with an Opening Plenary featuring SWIFT Chairman Yawar Shah, SWIFT CEO Javier Pérez-Tasso and guest speaker Dame Minouche Shafik, Director of the London School of Economics (LSE). Other highlights included the first Views from the Top sessions with António Horta-Osório, CEO of Lloyds Banking Group, Bill Winters, CEO of Standard Chartered and Lance Uggla, CEO of IHS Markit. Brian Cox wows Innotribe

Innotribe was opened yesterday with a keynote speech from Brian Cox, one of the UK's best known scientists and Professor of particle physics at the University of Manchester. His talk explored the fundamental science behind everything from stars and planets to atoms and microbiology. Professor Cox kicked off an Innotribe programme that travels to the future of finance to reflect on the technological and societal changes bringing challenges - and opportunities - for the financial services industry.



Sibos STARs open London Stock Exchange

On the first day of Sibos 30 participants of the inaugural STAR (Sibos Talent Accelerator Route) scholarship opened trading at the London Stock Exchange. The STAR scholarship is a new addition to the Sibos programme designed to empower professional women, as future leaders in the financial industry. It brings together women from some of the largest financial organisations across 17 countries to benefit from learning and unparalleled networking opportunities.
