for 2017!

As preparations ramp up for this year’s event in Toronto, this regular newsletter, Sibos Insider, brings you essential updates and previews ahead of Sibos week, news from across the industry, interviews, videos and visual teasers.

Conference

Preparing for tomorrow’s world

Under the theme ‘Building for the Future’, this year’s conference will explore the industry’s burning issues, including cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence (AI), the impact
of geopolitical and regulatory shifts, and data and identity.

93% of delegates from 2016 found the new four stream structure useful, so this format
will continue at Sibos in 2017. The Banking stream will cover the future of payments
and the challenges facing correspondent banking. The Compliance stream will look at developments in financial crime compliance and how banks are responding.

You can find out more about how regulatory changes are shaping market infrastructures, and how the market players are responding, at the Securities stream. The Technology stream will consider the impact that breakthrough technologies are having on financial services, and how they can help deliver value to customers as well as address the challenges of cybersecurity.

The programme will be published on the ‘Conference’ section of the website in June.

Exhibition

Sibos hits Toronto for Exhibitor Day 2017

Over 140 representatives from this year’s exhibiting companies gathered at the MTCC in Toronto on 22 March to scope out their plans and on-site activities for delegates at Sibos 2017 Toronto.

Head of Sibos, Sven Bossu highlighted how the event has witnessed 83 changes
in the last four years, and how this constant reinvention keeps the event fresh.
Stay tuned for details on innovations for 2017!

Exhibitors also had the opportunity to network and discuss the value that Sibos brings to their organisation.

Practical information

Important – New ID policy for 2017

This year, Sibos is implementing a change of policy regarding badging. Attendees will
no longer have a photograph displayed on their Sibos badge, and so you will now also
be required to show a government-issued photo ID upon arrival at the MTCC.

The official IDs that will be accepted are passport, driver’s licence or national identity card. Please make sure that you bring your photo ID with you to Sibos each day, as if you don’t have an appropriate ID to accompany your Sibos badge you won’t be granted access.

Introducing our partner charity for 2017

This year, Sibos will be working with SKETCH.

SKETCH is an arts-based community enterprise in Toronto that engages young people from across Canada who are living homeless or on the margins. SKETCH works with youth to develop in the arts so that they can lead in building creative communities, and build their entrepreneurial spirit and future.

Spotlight on Toronto

Canada’s financial industry, recognised as one of the world’s strongest, is headquartered in Toronto.

Toronto is also a vibrant, dynamic city with a rich heritage and a diverse population. Many of the city’s top restaurants, bars and attractions are within walking distance of the MTCC, the venue for Sibos 2017 Toronto.

And Toronto is the gateway to a vast region of natural beauty that includes Niagara Falls, the famous Lakes and the forests of Muskoka and the Kawarthas.

We’ll be profiling much of what the city has to offer in future Sibos Insiders and the 2017 Practical Pocket Guide, but for now, click on the below image for a taste of what to expect:
